Why did you choose to study or intern abroad?
I chose to study abroad because I want to learn Spanish and learn more about environmental science in a tropical environment. I'm going to San José, Costa Rica, and I've been to Costa Rica two times before. Both times that I've been, I've loved the country, and I hope to one day move there permanently.
WhAT IS ONE NEW EXPERIENCE YOU'RE HOPING TO HAVE WHILE ABROAD?
While studying abroad, I hope that I can learn more about local cuisine. I want to be able to take back recipes with me so that when I get home I can recreate some of the best parts of my study abroad.
What CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING while ABROAD?
I'm looking forward to taking all of my classes abroad. They are all really interesting, and I'm excited for them. I'm taking Spanish 2, Tropical Ecology, Coral Reef Ecology, and Marine Mammal Ecology and Conservation. Bonus: three of them have built-in field trips!
WHAT IS SOMETHING you're passionate and excited about?
I'm excited to go hiking, explore, and check out all of the local nature. I really like hiking, and even though I will be in a city, I hope that I will be able to get out of the city a few times to go hiking at some of the many volcanoes there. I'm also hoping to get more into rock climbing. I really like rock climbing, but I haven't had a lot of time for it this semester. There will be a rock climbing gym across the street from my university though, so I hope that I will be able to go climbing before or after my classes.
